Training clinical pharmacists to better manage Diabetes in GP Practices

Our interactive workshops will combine expert speakers and sharing of best practice by our clinical pharmacist facilitators who are conducting Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus related services in their own practices.

These meetings have been fully funded by Napp Pharmaceutical Ltd in partnership with Janssen-Cilag Ltd.

Philip Newland-Jones

Philip Newland-Jones is a Consultant Pharmacist in Diabetes and Endocrinology and is the Clinical Director of the Diabetes and Endocrine service at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. He is a member of the UKCPA Diabetes and Endocrinology Committee, the Joint British Diabetes Societies (JBDS-IP) Committee, and the Centre of Perioperative Care (CPOC) diabetes working group. At Southampton he is the clinical lead for type 1 diabetes and as an interest in severe insulin resistance.

Sanjay Tanna

A practice based pharmacist for the past eight years working in practices in Blackpool and North Lancashire, Sanjay is an Independent Prescriber who works across all of the Long Term Conditions (asthma, COPD, diabetes, cardiovascular disease). He is currently working as a Senior Clinical Pharmacist for NHS Heywood Middleton Rochdale CCG.

The workshop will focus on ‘insight’ in the morning and on ‘implementation’ the afternoon. The day has been structured to allow plenty of networking time and activities.


There will be a follow webinar to build on the momentum from the workshop.
