Karen Stokoe

Independent Prescribing Pharmacist

Karen is an independent prescribing pharmacist with a career spanning 25 years across community pharmacy and general practice (GP). She started her career in community pharmacy working as a relief pharmacist, then moved into a management position, gaining increasing responsibility as she was promoted into larger businesses. With experience in leadership, people management, decision making and budgeting, Karen is currently working in a GP practice in a deprived area in the North East, where she has a specialist interest in managing the diabetic population. 

Throughout her career, Karen has developed strong influencing, negotiating and planning skills alongside expertise in people and business management. She communicates effectively, understands diverse perspectives, and applies these skills to solve problems and deliver results. Over the last five years, Karen has supported the development of foundation pharmacists, guiding them to registration as a tutor. She has also continued her self-development by submitting for faculty membership with the RPSGB this year.
