Maxine Boyd

General Practice Pharmacist, Craigavon Federation

Maxine has over 20 years’ experience in community pharmacy, followed by a brief hospital placement before joining a GP Federation in 2019. She qualified as an independent prescriber in 2022 with a focus on chronic pain and opioid use, and holds diplomas in asthma, COPD, and type 2 diabetes.

In 2025, Maxine completed the i2i CRM Clinical Champions Programme, leading a QI project on heart failure. Her work identified key improvements in diagnosis, coding, and management in primary care, as well as gaps in hospital discharge letters and the NEWT guidelines. She engaged stakeholders including the Lead Clinical Cardiologist, heart failure team, Associate Medical Director for Primary Care, and a GP with a QI focus. The project delivered scalable outcomes, due to be shared across the Federation.
