Dudley CCG appoints first Consultant Pharmacist for Primary Care, working at a population level
Dudley CCG has taken the opportunity to create the consultant pharmacist post with a remit for medicines optimisation in primary care and the community with the aim to deliver a high standard of clinical practice as a ‘generalist’ clinical pharmacist as well as leading on medicines optimisation at a population level. More specifically, this will involve:
- leading and educating others
- developing a systematic approach to maximise effectiveness and safety at a population level
- leading on the development of clinical policies and tools which support good practice and local objectives
- developing a research agenda in medicines optimisation in this area
- leading on the development of the primary care clinical pharmacy workforce
