David was lead author on the UK guidance document for the management of older adults with diabetes and frailty and he also runs a programme evaluating individualising care in older adults with diabetes and the correlation between patients’ interpretations of their quality of life and that of their relatives in decisions about their health. David conducts research across the spectrum from mechanistic studies in the biologically young to pragmatic trials in the frail elderly population; he has performed the only study to date demonstrating the feasibility of individualising targets for older adults across Europe.
