Andrew combines his primary care roles supporting and developing individual patient care , with strategic roles for long term planning within the Oldham CCG. The focus is on developing safe and integrated care plans using primary care as the hub for services. Patient engagement and understanding of the potential benefits of proactive health changes is central to the role.
He has presented both nationally and internationally on a range of subjects, particularly within the Diabetic field. Currently working in practice with a large patient population, and 1000 people with diabetes, the focus is on individual patient care, taking the nice guidance and how to apply them appropriately on a person by person basis. He has supported medicine management and endocrinology at a locality level and is involved nationally in developing safe pathways. He also is a member of the local medical committee and works in developing safe prescribing and good practice via liaison with the local pharmacy committees.
Andrew is also a governing body member of the local CCG, where he focuses on assuring quality performance.
