Having served as a senior police officer for 27 years, Phil witnessed firsthand the detrimental impact of poorly managed or untreated ADHD on individuals’ social outcomes. Motivated by a desire for change, he embarked on a mission to transform the landscape. The result of his tireless efforts is arguably the largest clinic of its kind worldwide, with the exception of limited data available from China. Instead of thinking outside the box, Phil and his team have gone a step further by completely reinventing it. There’s new box.
Deep within each person with ADHD, a condition that affects approximately 5% of the population, lies an “island of competence.” Phil firmly believes that it is our moral obligation to help individuals discover this island and harness its full potential. Many entrepreneurs who have ADHD possess a unique ability to hyper-focus, driven by unrivalled energy. When provided with support, these individuals have the power to effect positive change. Phil asks, “Why wouldn’t we want to invest in greater understanding and explore how we can assist?”
In addition to his remarkable achievements, Phil holds a PhD and is esteemed as a Fellow of both the Institute of Leadership and Management and the Royal Society of Medicine. Furthermore, he has been recognized as a winner of the Great British Entrepreneur Award, specifically in the ‘with purpose’ category (2023). Reflecting on his journey, Phil humbly remarks, “Not too bad for an ex-cop who left school with O levels and a cycling proficiency certificate.”
Despite being neurotypical himself, Phil’s personal connection to neurodiversity is evident through his stepson, who falls under this category. This firsthand experience fuels Phil’s commitment to championing inclusivity and understanding for individuals with diverse neurological profiles.
