Emily Rose-Parfitt is a Consultant Pharmacist in Rheumatology and Lead Prescriber at North Bristol NHS Trust and is recognised nationally for her leadership in rheumatology pharmacy, service innovation, and medicines optimisation. Widely regarded as one of the UK’s pioneering rheumatology consultant pharmacists, Emily has played a key role in developing patient-centred biologic prescribing pathways, remote monitoring services, and shared decision-making tools that have improved patient outcomes while delivering significant efficiencies for the NHS.
Emily is an active contributor to national rheumatology practice and policy. She is a member of the British Society for Rheumatology Clinical Affairs Committee and Guideline Steering Group. She is also co-author of the British Society for Rheumatology Job Planning Guidance for Rheumatology Pharmacists and a member of the British Society for Rheumatology Guideline Working Groups for the recent disease modifying therapy guideline updates.
Emily is a Consultant Pharmacy Competency Committee Assessor for the Royal College of Pharmacy, regularly reviewing Consultant Pharmacist credentialing portfolios and consultant post applications, having been a member of the working group to develop the Consultant Pharmacist Curriculum and herself being credentialed as Consultant Pharmacist.
Emily has led initiatives focused on improving access to treatment, empowering patients, and expanding the role of non-medical prescribing within multidisciplinary teams, winning British Society for Rheumatology Best Practice Awards and pharmacy innovation awards. Emily has a particular interest in service development, biologic and targeted therapy optimisation, and collaborative care models. She has contributed to national professional guidance, educational initiatives, quality improvement and research within rheumatology and pharmacy practice. She is also passionate about sharing best practice across the NHS to support sustainable, high-quality patient care.
