Matthew Hart

The majority of his clinical experience has been developed by working within the hospital sector of pharmacy. Matthew began as Clinical Pharmacist at City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust then moved to Newcastle upon Tyne Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to become a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist. Alongside his clinical experience he has completed a Clinical Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy and completed the Independent Prescribing for Pharmacists qualification at the University of Sunderland.

He is currently working alongside the Academic Health Science Network North East and North Cumbria on a pilot project carrying out lipid optimisation of vascular and diabetic foot patients. He has developed a pharmacist led clinic reviewing lipid profiles with the aim of achieving prevention targets. To date over 200 patients have benefited from his experience and knowledge of lipid management. This has given vascular and diabetic patients better access to ground breaking injectable lipid lowering therapy through new methods of identifying potential candidates through secondary care.

He is also a member of the Northern Vascular Lipid Optimisation Network.
