Dr Nigel Rowell

Nigel qualified in Medicine in 1983 form Manchester, having picked up a degree in Biochemistry at the University of St Andrews along the way.

His career as a GP began in 1988 as a family doctor in Middlesbrough and at the same time started a Clinical Assistantship in Cardiology at the James Cook University Hospital. This latter role developed into being a Hospital Practitioner and GPSI, setting up the local heart failure service in 2004. This was based on BNP testing, community echocardiogram and one-stop clinical assessment.
