Nina Barnett

Nina is a national leader in use of health coaching in medicines-related patient care; she has developed and delivered MSc level courses to health care professionals and prescribing pharmacists at Kingston University, where Nina is currently a Visiting Professor. Working with colleagues at NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service, she has devised and promoted a patient centred method for management of polypharmacy and is leading on optimising consultations to support safe, effective and appropriate deprescribing.

Her current work includes developing, implementing and validating the award winning integrated medicines support service (HSJ awards 2015) focussing on reducing risk of preventable medicines-related readmission for older people in both hospital and primary care. Working with Kings College London she is developing methods to integrate polypharmacy management and deprescribing into undergraduate and postgraduate teaching , using a patient centred approach.
