The epidemiology of multimorbidity in primary care: a retrospective cohort study

Multimorbidity is common, socially patterned, and associated with increased health service utilisation.

Patients with multimorbidity account for 52.9% of GP consultations, 78.7% of prescriptions & 56.1% of hospital admissions.

These findings support the need to improve the quality and efficiency of health services providing care to patients with multimorbidity at both practice and national level.

#GPPharmacists how are you up-skilling yourselves to deal with multimorbidity patients? Do you attend integrated care meetings within your practice to deal with the more complex patients? Find out what services that your local area offer and how you can collaborate with these services to better the quality of care given to your patients.
